đź’¶ Funding and investment requirements
This call is targeted at startups that are actively fundraising and have progressed beyond the idea stage, with at least a prototype, pilot, or MVP in place. Eligible companies must be legally established in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe–associated country, with a pre-money valuation below €50 million. Founders and executive team members are expected to retain a strong ownership position, holding more than 40% of the company’s equity prior to the current fundraising round. Companies already included in the EIT Urban Mobility investment portfolio are not eligible to apply.
🏙️ Company profile and thematic focus
To accelerate the transition to sustainable urban mobility, this call focuses on five key sectors where Europe has strong potential to innovate and create impact. Startups may target one or more of these sectors, particularly where there are clear synergies between them — for example, applying data-driven and AI-based solutions to public transport systems, or integrating electrification technologies into urban logistics models.
The five focus sectors are urban logistics; shared mobility and public transport; mobility data management; electrification of transport and alternative fuels; and health and mobility. Solutions that demonstrate cross-sector integration and system-level impact are especially encouraged.
đź“… Application timeline and selection process
The call follows a multi-cut-off structure throughout 2026, allowing startups to apply at the moment that best aligns with their fundraising and growth plans. The submission deadlines are 23 February 2026, 18 May 2026, 31 August 2026, and 16 November 2026. Applications are submitted via EIT Urban Mobility’s online platform, and each cut-off is assessed independently.
🎯 Evaluation and selection
After submission, applications go through an eligibility and admissibility check, followed by a multi-stage evaluation process. This typically includes a detailed proposal assessment and, for shortlisted startups, live pitch sessions with evaluators. While startups may apply to more than one cut-off, it is important to note that applications to three consecutive cut-offs are not permitted.
Beyond basic eligibility, applications are assessed on the quality of the solution, market opportunity, team strength, financial robustness, scalability, and expected impact on urban mobility systems. Selected startups benefit not only from funding, but also from increased exposure to investors, corporates, cities, and other key stakeholders across Europe.
